Geraldine McConachie and her peers exhibited at Overtoun House and Lang Craigs in their third year of GSA. Geraldine exhibited her food sculptures on the large dining table in Overtoun House. This project 'Filling the Void' is about comfort eating and its relation to grief, in specific, the grief experience within the loss of her dad. She recreated the foods that her dad would have made for her and her sister in sculptural form and in doing so this helped her process and cope with her loss. The dining table and experience of sharing food is important to her, this was an integral part of her family's daily routine, when her dad passed this structure changed, so she felt it would be important for her work to be displayed on the dining table in the space.
