FOGGY WINDOWS

The Old Hairdressers, Glasgow

2018

'Dysfunctional Dinner Table' was one of Geraldines first projects at The GSA. She was exploring new materials, especially found objects and was trying to cope with the death of her dad 5 months previous to her starting university.

She coped through comfort eating and felt her dads absence possibly most at the dinner table, as it was a family tradition that they sat at the table and ate together.

In this sculptural installation the mattress symbolises the dinner table, which is shown here with a poem analysing the absence of her dad and the dysfunction it caused. The three table legs resemble her sister, mum and herself, tied to the mattress, holding it up with wool and string.
